LOS ANGELES, January 23, 2006 - NBC announced yesterday at the TCA Press Tour (Television Critics Association) that "Teachers," the edgy comedy featuring Phil Hendrie as cynical history teacher Dick Green, will debut on April 6 in the prime spot of 9:30 p.m. following the huge hit "My Name is Earl." After the "Teachers" cast met the media for the first time at their press conference, they headed for the red carpet and after party. Hendrie was very popular with the paparazzi as he goofed and posed on the red carpet. At the media party, where various NBC show casts were in attendance, Hendrie was rubbing elbows with the likes of Martin Sheen, Zach Braff, Steve Carell, and Eddie Steeples.
Hendrie, who will continue doing his radio show, stated, "One of the greatest things about doing this TV show is the opportunity we have to promote our radio show. Plus it’s inspiring to work alongside such amazing character actors."
In this irreverent comedy where the faculty takes center stage, Hendrie is joined by Justin Bartha ("National Treasure"), Sarah Alexander (BBC's "Coupling"), Sarah Shahi ("The L Word"), Deon Richmond ("The Cosby Show"), Matt Winston ("Six Feet Under"), and Kali Rocha ("Buffy, the Vampire Slayer"). Matt Tarses ("Scrubs") and Bill Wrubel ("Will & Grace") are executive producers and James Burrows ("Will & Grace") is directing the pilot.
"The Phil Hendrie Show" is syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks on more than 100 stations.
