The Drive on FOX: If Goose Gossage was pitching Barry Bonds, he'd knock him down

LOS ANGELES, August 6, 2007 - MLB legend Goose Gossage joined The Drive on FOX with Chris Myers and Sean Farnham last Friday and discussed how he would pitch Barry Bonds. Below are highlights from the interview.

GOSSAGE: "First of all, I would take all of the armor off him, and then I would knock him on his ass. That's how I would pitch Barry Bonds. He wouldn't be standing up there digging in and wailing away like they do today. What Hank Aaron had to put up with was completely different because it was a different era. When Henry Aaron went up there, the first thing he thought about was, 'I might get knocked on my ass,' and the second thing was, 'I might get knocked on my ass again.' The last thing that Barry and all these hitters think about today is that they might get hit. That's the furthest thing from their minds, and even if they do get hit, they've got all that armor on. Its a different era. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great game and I do watch every game that I possibly can, but I don't think the old numbers mean what the new numbers are."

The Drive on FOX is nationally syndicated by the FOX Sports Radio Network and airs from 3-7 p.m. ET/12-4 p.m. PT on more than 100 stations.
